Climbing Psychology workshop for instructors and coaches

Course details

The workshop is designed to help you build a structure to deal with some of the psychological issues experienced in climbing. We will cover the following topics, but this can be open to flexibility:

  • Fear and how it manifests itself

  • Flow and performance theory

  • Habits and Motivation

  • Influence of thought and mindset

  • Fear of failure

  • Fear of Falling

  • Graded Exposure

  • Falling exercises

  • Coping strategies

  • Performance anxiety

  • Optimal performance

This workshop is open to instructors and coaches. The workshop is to help you work on your own climbing performance, and recognise some of the common issues in your clients.

Further information

  • The course lasts around 6 hours, with 2-3 hours of theory and the remainder practical

  • Any climbing centre.

  • This workshop is suitable for the competent lead climber, and lead belayer. Some instruction will be given, but we expect you to be comfortable with lead belaying and lead climbing.
