Trad Commitment workshop

Course details

Our trad commitment workshop is for the competent trad climber, who is looking to grow in confidence in their own gear placement judgement.

On the trad commitment workshop, we will cover the following areas:

  • Common climbing equipment

  • The forces involved in climbing/falling

  • Strength of equipment, and how this translates to real life examples

  • Protection (selection and placements)

  • Understanding route grading and route selection

  • Ways to reduce forces on equipment

  • Unusual climbing protection

  • Look at bomber gear, and marginal gear

  • And of course, real life falling on trad gear

  • And have fun doing it!

By the end of the trad commitment workshop, you will have learnt a lot about climbing protection, gained confidence placements, and your own ability to assess them.

  • Our trad commitment workshop is suitable for anyone that can lead climb or second up to level S or above. If in doubt about whether the course is suitable for you, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Wye Valley

We run the trad commitment course in the Wye Valley with groups of 3 people. The area is renowned for its sometimes questionable protection.

Peak District

We run the trad commitment course in the Peak District in groups of 6. The area is renowned for tougher grading, and sometimes scary topouts.
